Five stickers for the Django booth

Designing a small collectible sticker series for the Django Software Foundation booth at PyCon JP 2026.

There are frameworks you use, and there are frameworks that become part of who you are.

For a lot of us, Django is the second kind.

In two weeks I'm flying to Hiroshima for PyCon JP 2026, and I'll be around all three days, mostly at the Django Software Foundation community booth.

Over the last few weeks I've been designing a small collectible sticker series for the booth. Five designs, five little stories:

  • A passport stamp for the "hello, Japan" moment.
  • import django on a retro terminal, the two words we've all typed.
  • Batteries Included, the philosophy that made us stay.
  • A traveler pony at Mount Fuji, a small nod to the country hosting us.
  • A community welcome badge for everyone who stops by.

I'll be speaking at the booth about how Django's Working Groups actually work, how to make your first contribution without feeling like an impostor, and the parts of Django that never make the release notes but keep us coming back. Some of the best conversations at any conference happen right there at the booth.

None of these are for sale. They're for the strangers who become friends at the booth. That's the whole point of open source, if you ask me. The code is half the magic. The people who show up are the rest.

If you're at PyCon JP from August 21 to 23 in Hiroshima (main conference on the 21st and 22nd, sprints on the 23rd), come say hi. Bring your laptop, your Django questions, and your "I've been meaning to contribute" energy. We'll take it from there.
