Some weeks, walk away from the build

Three days somewhere signal is a rumour, and the questions that get quieter there.

Signal's a rumour up here. The sun does most of the talking.

Brought my laptop out of habit. Opened it twice.

Three days in. Said good morning to more strangers than I do in a month back home. Got handed coffee I didn't order, twice. Watched a shopkeeper argue with his dog. The cap I wear has been to more hackathons than I've been to weddings, and it's still my favourite thing I own.

Some weeks the best thing you can do for a build is walk away from it.

For a while now most of what I've been chasing isn't the models. It's the plumbing underneath. How agents talk without stepping on each other. Where memory lives when the model forgets. What "done" means for a workflow that can crash at any point.

I have never known peace like the damp grass that yields to me.

Turns out the questions get quieter up here. And that's usually when the answers show up.

Not "what am I building" but "why does this matter to build."

Back to the desk Sunday.
